Affirmation generator

Ready-made affirmations do not fit everyone. Finish two short sentences and this tool turns them into affirmations in your own words that you can actually believe.

Why your own words

An affirmation only helps if you can believe it. In experiments, people with low self-esteem felt worse after repeating a very positive statement about themselves (Wood, Perunovic & Lee, 2009). So this generator does two things:

  • It builds the sentence from what you want, not from someone else's goal.
  • It phrases it as something that is true today: "I am learning to…", "today I…", instead of "I already have…".

The second box, the small thing you can do today, matters most. Linking an intention to a concrete "when and what" makes people considerably more likely to follow through (Gollwitzer & Sheeran, 2006).

How to use it

  1. 1

    Finish "I want to…"

For example: "feel calm before I present", "exercise three times a week", "change jobs this year".

  2. 2

Write today's step as a full sentence

For example: "I prepare my notes tonight." Keep it small, doable today and entirely in your hands.

  3. 3

    Pick the one you believe

Choose the line that raises no inner objection. Copy it or print it as a card.

  4. 4

Say it at the same moment each day

With your morning coffee or before bed, then do the step. In the app you can record it in your own voice.

What an affirmation can and cannot do

An affirmation does not change events, attract money or people, or treat an illness. What it can do is point your attention at what you care about and remind you of the next thing you intend to do. Think of it as a note to yourself that you read aloud.

If you are dealing with persistent anxiety or low mood, please talk to a doctor or a mental health professional; affirmations are not a treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Is the affirmation generator free?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and has no limit.

Is this an AI affirmation generator?

No. It places your two sentences into fixed sentence patterns in your browser. That keeps the words yours and means nothing is sent to a server.

Where is what I type stored?

Only in your own browser, so the fields are still filled in when you come back. We do not receive it.

How many affirmations should I use?

One at a time is enough. A single sentence you believe, said daily and followed by a small action, does more than a long list.

What if the sentence comes out awkward?

Write the first box as a phrase that follows "I want to" (for example "sleep earlier"), and the second as a full sentence. You can copy any result and edit it freely.
