In short
A 2027 vision board is a collage of images and words for the few things you want the year to hold. Pick 3–5 life areas, write one sentence for each, choose pictures that show the everyday scene (not only the end result), add a word for the year, and put the board where you will see it daily. Pair every area with one small first step. You can use the free maker below, print our worksheet or download a ready-made phone wallpaper.
Make your 2027 vision board online
The maker starts with a 2027 title and six suggested words. Add your own photos, change the words and download a PNG to use as a wallpaper or to print. Free, no sign-up.
Your photos stay on your device — nothing is uploaded. Drop an image on a tile, or drag tiles to swap them.

How to make a 2027 vision board, step by step
Give yourself about an hour, a quiet table and something warm to drink. You can do steps 1–3 on the worksheet and steps 4–7 in the maker, in an app or with scissors and glue.
- 1
Look back at 2026 first
Spend ten minutes on three questions: what went well this year, what drained you, and what you want more of. A board built on an honest look back is more personal than one built from scratch.
- 2
Choose three to five life areas
Love, career, money, health, travel, home, self-growth: you do not need all of them. Pick the areas you actually want to put energy into next year. Fewer areas make a clearer board.
- 3
Write one sentence per area
Describe how you want that area to look and feel by December 2027, in plain words: "I cook at home most weeknights and feel good in my body." This sentence decides which pictures belong on the board.
- 4
Collect images of scenes, not just things
For each sentence, find two or three pictures. Mix the result (a finished race, a cosy living room) with the everyday process that leads there (running shoes by the door, a Sunday cleaning playlist).
- 5
Add a word for the year and a few short phrases
Choose one word that sums up 2027 for you, such as calm, brave or build, and put it in the centre. Add short phrases in your own words rather than long quotes.
- 6
Lay it out and fill the space
Put your most important image in the middle, group pictures by area and overlap them like a collage. Boards that fill the whole page tend to look intentional; lots of empty background makes them feel unfinished.
- 7
Put it where you will see it, and pick a first step
Make it your lock screen, pin it above your desk or keep it in an app you open daily. Then write one small action per area that you can do in the first week of January.
Why the process pictures matter: in studies, people who only daydreamed about an ideal outcome sometimes put in less effort afterwards (Kappes & Oettingen, 2011), while students who pictured the process of studying started earlier and did better than those who pictured the good grade (Pham & Taylor, 1999). A board that shows the path as well as the destination is simply more useful.

Digital, printable or phone wallpaper?
The best format is the one you will look at most often. Each has a different strength.
Printable board
Printing photos and cutting them out takes longer, and that slower process can make the board feel more personal. Good for a desk, a fridge or a bedroom wall. Use the worksheet to plan, then glue images onto card or the back of the printout.
Digital board
Quick to make, easy to update in March when something changes, and free. Make one in the maker above, or in an app. Download it as an image so you can print it later if you want to.
Phone wallpaper
You unlock your phone many times a day, so a lock screen board is the one you will see most. Keep it simple: a few strong pictures and one word, so your clock and notifications stay readable.
A good combination: plan on paper, make a digital version, and set it as your lock screen in January.
How to actually use your vision board
Most boards are made in late December and forgotten by February. The difference is not the board but the habit around it. Keep it light:
- Daily
Look at it for thirty seconds
When you see your board in the morning, pick one picture and ask: what is one small thing I can do today that fits this? Then get on with your day.
- Weekly
Choose one step for the week
On Sunday, pick one area and one concrete step: book the class, open the savings account, send the message. One step a week is about fifty steps by December.
- Monthly
Check what moved
At the end of each month, look at the board for five minutes. Note what moved forward, what stalled and what no longer feels right.
- Mid-year
Update it
Around June, swap out pictures that no longer fit. A board that changes with you stays useful. A board that stays the same becomes wallpaper in the other sense.
Tracking progress, even roughly, helps people reach goals more often than not tracking at all (Harkin et al., 2016). Your board can be that check-in.
What a vision board can and can't do
A vision board will not make things happen by itself, and nobody can honestly promise that it will. What it can do is keep your intentions in view, so you notice the opportunities, choices and small actions that move you toward them. Think of it as a reminder you designed yourself.
That is also why the honest version works better than the impressive one. A board full of luxury cars you do not really want is easy to ignore. A board with your own street, your running shoes and your friends' faces keeps pulling you back. If you want to go further, pair your board with a short New Year manifestation ritual and a few New Year affirmations you can say in your own voice.

Frequently asked questions
When should I make my 2027 vision board?
Any time from late November to the end of January works. Many people make it between Christmas and New Year's Day, when there is time to look back. If you miss that window, a board made in February is just as useful. The calendar matters less than looking at it afterwards.
What should I put on a 2027 vision board?
Pictures and words for three to five life areas you care about, such as health, love, career, money, travel, home or self-growth. Include everyday scenes of the process, not just the end result, plus one word for the year.
How many pictures should a vision board have?
There is no rule. A phone wallpaper looks best with five to ten images; a printed board can hold twenty or more. Fill the space so it looks like a collage, but leave out anything that does not connect to one of your areas.
Is there a free 2027 vision board template?
Yes. On this page you can download a free printable 2027 vision board worksheet (A4 and US Letter PDF) and three 2027 phone wallpapers, or use the online maker, which starts with a 2027 title and suggested words.
Is a digital or a physical vision board better?
Neither is better in general. A physical board can feel more personal because you make it by hand; a digital board is always with you and easy to update. Many people plan on paper and then use a digital copy as their lock screen.
Do vision boards actually work?
A board does not cause outcomes on its own. It helps by keeping your goals in view and prompting small actions. Research suggests that picturing only the result can reduce effort, while picturing the steps helps, so include the path on your board and pair it with weekly actions.
Can I make a vision board on my phone?
Yes. The maker on this page works in your phone's browser: add photos from your gallery, edit the words and download the board. You can also download one of the free 2027 wallpapers and set it as your lock screen.
